Injury free for work, life and sport...

 Clinic Appointments

  • Initial Consultation

A full history of your condition will be taken and a thorough clinical examination performed in order to establish the cause of your problem, what treatment is indicated and an approximate idea of recovery/rehabilitation time given. If you are a runner, your consultation may also include a gait analysis to assess your running style.

  • Treatment/Rehab

Appropriate treatment techniques, which have been discussed and agreed with you at your initial consultation, may include manual therapy (mobilisations, manipulations), soft tissue work, and progressive functional/postural rehabilitation exercise. You will be given guidance on how to manage your injury and how to maintain fitness whilst recovering.

  • Shoe Prescription

Major running shoe brands make a range of shoes (neutral, mild support, moderate support, motion control) to suit diferent foot types. By knowing your foot type and how it functions in relation to the rest of your body when running allows you to select the correct shoe and help alleviate or prevent injury. Kinetics Injury Rehab uses gait analysis software, in-depth knowledge of technologies in running shoe brands, and biomechanical knowledge in a clinical context to 'prescribe' the running shoe currently most suited to your needs (including Adidias, Asics, Brooks, New Balance, Nike, Mizuno, Saucony). Includes 10% discount off full-priced shoes at Ironbridge Runner, Exeter.

  • Sports Massage

Regular sports massage can become a significant part of your training. Sports massage can be used post-exercise to aid recovery and removal of lactate, stretch muscles and make your rest more efficient. Prior to exercise it improves blood flow and tissue flexibility, 'fires up' the nervous system and therefore improves performance and reduces liklihood of injury. When injured, sports massage can be tailored to acute or chronic phases of injury - to remove excess tissue fluid and inflammation, reduce swelling, break down scar tissue and adhesions, all intended to aid healing and recovery.

  • Runner's MOT(TM)

Seasoned runner? Getting back into it? Just starting? We regularly MOT our cars, but what about our body? Kinetics Injury Rehab offers a unique 'Runner's MOT' (TM) service. This involves taking a history of your running/sport, work and life factors, information regarding any previous injury, and performing an injury screening examination plus a gait analysis to assess the way you run. This will identify any factors which may predispose you to injury and give advice on what can be done to avoid this and enhance your performance. A shoe prescription is also provided, along with a 10% discount off full-priced shoes Ironbridge Runner, Exeter.
